Connection - ORIGIN RITUAL

Origin begins before the image.

We enter a space where we can temporarily let go of the stories, expectations, habits, and distractions that usually tell us what to see and what to make. We slow down, listen, and allow something less familiar to emerge.

Each participant begins with a blank surface and a small language of color: the primary colors, black, and white. There is no subject to paint and no image to reproduce. Instead, we begin with an impulse—a mark, a gesture, a color, a fragment of an image.
The sounds around us become part of the process: nature, rhythm, voices, silence, breath, distant worlds. The painting becomes a first trace of a personal creation myth—a proto-story before it has become a story.

We don’t try to explain it.
We let the image come.
The first painting is an embryo: unfinished, instinctive, perhaps strange or even uncomfortable. It is not meant to represent who we are. It is simply a place to begin.

Before creating something new, we make room for it to appear.

THE UNSEEN STORY

What happens next is part of the ritual.

An image can carry a story without telling us what that story is. It can hold traces of memory, instinct, dreams, and things we may not yet have words for.
During the workshop, these beginnings enter into a larger movement.

Images meet images. Marks encounter other marks. What seemed personal can become unfamiliar. What seemed finished can begin to change.
The work moves beyond its original intention, opening unexpected connections between one imagination and another.
Something is released.
Something is received.
Something is transformed.

We follow the work without knowing exactly where it is taking us.

And somewhere along the way, the original image may no longer be the important thing.
What matters is what has begun to appear through it.

A story beneath the story.

A world before the world.

A new beginning waiting to be seen.

For Chldren— The First Image

Origin Ritual invites children to discover the joy of creating together.

Beginning with colors, shapes, symbols, and imagination, each participant creates the first spark of a story. As paintings travel from one child to another, new ideas appear, unexpected connections emerge, and individual creations become part of something larger than any one person could imagine alone.

Through collaborative painting, children learn that creativity is not only self-expression—it is also listening, sharing, responding, and building upon the ideas of others. Every mark becomes an invitation, every image a conversation, and every contribution part of a collective work of art.

By the end of the experience, a constellation of interconnected stories has emerged, revealing how imagination grows when it is shared.
